HDMI Questions

I would like to go from VGA on my PC or Latpop, to HDMI on my TV. Which cable do I need?

Since VGA is an Analog video signal, and HDMI is a Digital Audio and Video signal, you would need a signal converter box, not just a cable.

I see that you have DVI Female to Female couplers. Can't I just connect a VGA to DVI cable with a DVI to HDMI cable and get the VGA to HDMI signal that I want?

Unfortunately, you can't do that. The two types of DVI on the ends of those cables, are not exactly the same. One has 4 pins around the blade, and those are the analog signals. So, although they would fit together, you would not get a signal out the other side.

I bought an HDMI to DVI cable, but I don't get any sound out of it when I plug it in. Is the cable defective, or do I need to change a setting in my computer?

Although HDMI carries Digital Audio, DVI only carries Video signals. So, when you convert the signal, you will lose audio, and need to run a separate audio cable.

What is the different between a switch and a splitter?

A Switch, is usually used for selecting which single input source you want to go out to a single device. A splitter takes a single signal, and sends the same signal out to multiple devices.

I would like to hook up two monitors two monitors to my video card and get two different images on them. Will your video splitter work for this?

Unfortunately, a video splitter will only be able to display the same image on both monitors. What you would need is a video card that actually has two outputs, one for each monitor, and then you would use the video card software to set the dual displays up.

How do I know if what I am buying is a quality product or not?

Sometimes, the quality of product cannot be judged by price alone. For some of our products, we have different varieties. Some will be better than others. This cable may be shielded, while that cable is not. This one might have a thicker gauge than that one, for example. However, all of our cables come with a limited 20 day money back guarantee, and a lifetime warranty against defects. We want you to be happy with your cable purchase - and we want you to come back for all your cable needs. We don't want you to just buy that one cable, and not be happy. We have even gone as far as to cut open some of the cables from "other" leading manufacturers and you can compare them, side by side, with ours. We even have our cables hooked up to a Samsung 3D LED 42" TV and 3D BluRay Player to show that generic cables will perform perfectly.

Do you custom make cables?

We do not actually manufacturer any of our own products. We are a reseller of cables and accessories. We can sometimes get special cables that are not in our online catalog, and you are more than welcome to email or call us about something you cannot see online.

Are your cables RoHS compliant?

We have several cables that arrive with either RoHS imprinted on the packaging, or with a label on the product, or packaging. In some cases, this is sufficient marking. However, we understand that there are several companies that require the certification letter in order to be complaint themselves with the products they sell or use. Unfortunately, we have not yet received all the documentation or certificates for our products from our vendors. We can sometimes get the test papers, but not the actual certificates.
